Using a Shoe Stretcher

A shoe stretcher can be an effective way to relieve pressure in the shoes over problems such as hammer toes and bunions as well as to help shoes fit better and be more comfortable. Not all upper materials are suitable to be stretched, but most can to a certain extent. Leather is the most malleable material to be stretched.

Before placing the shoe stretcher into the shoe, if you have particular spots (eg over a bunion, tailors bunion or hammer toe) select on the the expandable plugs and add them to the shoe stretcher. Once you have placed the shoe stretcher in place and turned the screw to expand it, leave it in place for a day or two to work. It may need to used again a few more times of a few days.
